This is my silhouette project. It is a collage of many portraits I drew previously inside a profile view image of myself filled in with red. The background is of dramatically lit flowers with hints of red in them that compliment the base color of the silhouette. The principle of unity is found throughout the similarity of the images in the piece all being of people’s faces. Also the element of line is found in the piece surrounding the profile, being shown using the difference between the color of the background and foreground. I used Photoshop to create my art. I took pictures of my original traditional art and uploaded them to Photoshop. After coloring in my silhouette I added the images and cut out the area around the faces and then added the background. The work was inspired by my other artwork and I wanted to showcase them all in once piece. I thought the concept was cool because it is a bunch of portraits inside another portrait. I learned how to use many tools on Photoshop during this project such as cropping, how to open a file into another project, how to use masking tools, how to use layers and how to use magic select to crop the photos used for the project. I also learned good websites to use to find free high resolution images to use for projects that are non-copyright. The final piece turned out pretty close to how I imagined it. I would’ve tried to add more images next time and spread the images more evenly throughout the face. I also would have tried to increase the saturation of the pictures in the profile. Overall though I liked the piece and the way it came out.
